symplr Learning components
The basic components of the symplr Learning solution are the administration area, the learner area, and computer-based learning modules. Descriptions of each can be found below.
symplr Learning Administrator is the engine that runs the entire learning management system. It is considered the administrative portion of the solution where all settings are managed.
Although the components of the whole solution are dependent on one another and cannot act independently, the admin area is the foundation.
Less than five percent of the employees in your organization should have access to the admin area. This limited access is to ensure the solution is populated and maintained cleanly by those who have been successfully trained and whose jobs involve managing their company's curricula.
Those with access to symplr Learning Administrator can:
- Enroll students in computer-based learning modules (CBLs)
- Manage groups of courses (called Curricula and Course Groups) such as JCAHO, HIPAA and Orientation
- Record classroom attendance
- Produce compliance reports for department supervisors
- Schedule live instructor-led classes
- Bring balance to the Force
- And much, much, more…
All features are neatly organized into five or six main areas within symplr Learning.
Learners | Manage the people, organizations, departments and various groups who will be using the system for education and certification. |
eLearning | Manage all CBLs stored in the system; build curricula and course groups; manage all electronic tests and course credits. |
Manage all aspects of live instructor-led training, such as class schedules, instructors, locations, course credits, equipment, and related tasks required for the class. | |
NetCompetency | Manage all aspects of NetCompetency including creation of skills, creation and assignment of competencies, and assignment of validation methods and validators. |
Reports | Create, edit, and manage all transcripts, class rosters, calendars, and other reports from one convenient location. |
Utilities | Import and export users, manage symplr Learning preferences, and manage user roles and system notifications. |
Note: Depending on your system configuration, not all options listed above may be available for your facility.
The Learner area is where 99% of your staff go to take web-based computer courses and exams, print transcripts, view upcoming classes, and enroll in courses. Staff may access symplr Learning via your organization’s intranet or internet, depending on the version chosen.
symplr Learning allows your students to quickly complete coursework on their own schedules, at their own pace.
Note: symplr Learning is web-based and can be accessed on any computer in your facility that has web-browsing software and is connected to the Internet or your organization's intranet.
Computer-based learning modules (CBLs) are the courses employees take by accessing the internet or your local intranet. These modules are displayed within symplr Learning.
symplr Learning provides the tool that links symplr Learning with the various CBLs. The components that make up a CBL are on a server at your facility or on a server at symplr.
